I am a senior software-engineer/software-architect and currently working in Kiel, SH.
My shortened CV can be found below.
Experience
-
Senior Software-Engineer / Software-Architect
I am currenty responsible for digital signal processing units at Wärtsilä ELAC Nautik GmbH.
-
Software-Developer
With Raytheon Anschütz in Kiel i had the opportunity to work on IT security for advanced integrated navigation systems within the ACTRESS project. I developed security AAA algorithms in C++ and worked on a LDAP architecture based on SAMBA.
-
Entwicklungs- / Systemengenieur
With modis GmbH i had the opportunIty for a temporary employment with Wärtsilä ELAC Nautik GmbH. At the R&D department of Wärtsilä i was developing and improving digital signal processing units for an advanced sonar suite in C++.
-
Researcher / Phd. student
At the Chair of Communication i was a Researcher and mainly working on topics regarding my Phd. thesis, namely digital signal processing methods for fiber optic communication systems in elastic, flexible networks. The thesis includes the investigation and development of algorithms, which handle adaptivly a big range of modulation formats for adaptive signal processing in next-generation flexible and elastic optical networks. This includes modeling and simulations in Matlab, C and C++. All important conducted results were evaluated by experimental measurements in a fiber-optic lab.
-
Research Assistant
After finishing my diploma thesis i had the opportunity to publish and continue the work.
-
Internship
During my studies i had the opportunity to do an internship with L-3 ELAC Nautik GmbH & Co. KG just before my diploma thesis.

Saser
The goal of the SASER research programme is to provide the scientific, technical, and technological concepts and solutions for secure transport networks in the 2020 time frame. A European solution envisaged by SASER is based on the strengths and expertise in security and high-speed optical transport networks to overcome the bottlenecks and vulnerabilities of today’s electronic all-IP based infrastructure. The envisaged European consortium combines leading equipment providers, network operators, universities and research institutions and offers the prerequisites for a successful development, implementation and standardisation of the proposed solutions.

With the eNavigation initiative of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) the maritime world has long embarked on this voyage. Safer shipping, better protection of the environment and huge cost benefits in maritime transport are the promises and hopes. And indeed, politics and industry of the major shipping nations expect huge improvements through the participation in this undertaking. But it comes at a price! Global maritime connectivity surely requires an in-depth review of all current maritime practices: of legal and commercial regimes; responsibilities, liabilities and insurances; and, foremost of it all, it requires a complete re-thinking of the engineering processes for the design, integration and testing of maritime systems.
